Maker’s Apron presents

LITTERati: A Trashion Show Competition

Saturday October 21st at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, Maker’s Apron Creative Reuse will host LITTERati, a Trash Fashion Show and competition. Contestants will rock their recycling through the historic hall, and compete for prizes to the beats of DJ Trashdrops. Museum staff will be pouring beverages to benefit their educational programs. During the cocktail hour between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., guests can enjoy their refreshments while taking in the last days of the annual Junque Art Show. Tickets for LITTERati are $15 at the door or online at makersapron.org.

The call went out late last summer. Designers, artists, and eco-crafters began collecting unusual materials and refining their ideas. According to the rules at makersapron.org creations for LITTERati must be made primarily from “Creative Reuse Materials” including materials used for something other than their original intended purpose and/or materials captured from the waste stream or cleaned from the environment. Judges will be looking for interesting materials as well as the best designs, then awarding contestants prizes sponsored by Belle Starr Clothing.

Ticket sales will benefit Maker’s Apron’s mission to “inspire environmentally sustainable behavior by providing affordable materials and educational programs to the community.” They are a nonprofit DreamMaker Project of the Ink People, supported by events like these and their arts and crafts thrift store on E Street, Eureka. Beverage sales at the event’s cash bar will benefit the Morris Graves Museum of Art’s educational programs.
